Cameron Dantzler – CB

The Vikings got themselves a gem in Cameron Dantzler. Most of their high-end draft picks at the cornerback position haven’t worked out one way or another in recent years, but they’ve got some exceptional production from the third-round selection since he entered the league in 2020.

Dantzler has been the one shining light when all around him seemingly crumbled. The Mississippi State product adjusted tremendously well to the pros and is now regarded as the team’s best corner despite the presence of Patrick Peterson and Andrew Booth Jr. on the roster.

If Dantzler can emerge further in 2022 and become a true shutdown player at the position, then Minnesota could be forced into an early contract negotiation with one year remaining on his deal. This might put the Vikings in a predicament with others also on the lookout for a pay raise, so it’ll be something to keep a close eye on this time next year.

What comes next is down to Dantzler. If he develops, displays the right attitude, and emerges as a potential leader, then the Vikings would be wise to provide the player with long-term security.

Finding stability in the cornerback room has been difficult. That’s why those in power must do everything they can to avoid an issue with Dantzler moving forward.
