5 Vikings players you forgot about from the Mike Zimmer era
By Adam Carlson
Chris Herndon, TE (2021)
If not for Chris Herndon‘s time with the Minnesota Vikings only being one season ago, fans would have completely forgotten that he was on the roster at all. In fact, the trade that sent a fourth-round pick to the Jets for Herndon and a sixth is talked about more than Herndon himself.
Herndon looked like he would be a very good tight end in the NFL after his rookie year with the Jets in 2018. He caught 39 passes for 502 yards and scored four touchdowns that year, making him someone fantasy football players were starting to follow.
Sadly, he never came close to replicating that season and many thought it was because of the ineffective offense of the Jets. A change of scenery to the Vikings should have refreshed his career, but it did the exact opposite.
Minnesota couldn’t get much of a return on their trade for Herndon since he only caught four passes for 40 yards and scored one touchdown for the Vikings while being outplayed by Tyler Conklin. Herndon has yet to sign with a team for the 2022 season.
