Cameron Dantzler – CB

According to PFF, Cameron Dantzler was the best cornerback on the Vikings’ roster last season. But that isn’t really saying much when Dantzler was out-performing guys like Bashaud Breeland, Mackensie Alexander, and a past-his-prime Patrick Peterson.

For the majority of his time out on the field, Dantzler has been a very solid cornerback. He’s good in coverage and he even defends the run well. However, he has had some major brain farts during his first two seasons in the NFL that have cost the Vikings important wins.

Just go back to Minnesota’s Week 13 matchup with the Detroit Lions last season. Dantzler came up with a great interception early in the fourth quarter to help the Vikings keep their deficit to just two points. But then on the final play of the contest, the Minnesota corner forgot where the goal line was and he just let Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown easily haul in the game-winning touchdown catch.

If Dantzler wants to be regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the league, he cannot continue to choke at key moments in games. But until he fixes that problem, he’s just another average NFL cornerback.
