5 emergency QB options if the Vikings lose Kirk Cousins to injury in 2022
By Adam Carlson
The veteran backup: Sean Mannion
When the Mike Zimmer era of the Minnesota Vikings came to a close, hope that the team would pursue a backup quarterback who would be able to step in and win a game or two had to be something fans were interested in.
Sadly, the purple and gold returned with the same option under new leadership and brought Sean Mannion back to the roster. Mannion is entering his fourth season with the Vikings and currently holds a record of 0-3 as a starter.
It’s not even that Mannion couldn’t lead his team to a win, it’s that he has struggled in his contests. With the Vikings, he has completed less than 60 percent of his passes and has thrown only one touchdown compared to two interceptions.
Fans need to hope that someone can emerge and beat out Sean Mannion to be the team’s backup quarterback. If that doesn’t happen and Mannion stays the primary backup, everyone should be knocking on wood and hoping that Cousins stays healthy.
