The mysterious youngster: Kellen Mond

There appeared to be a huge disconnect between rookie QB Kellen Mond and head coach Mike Zimmer last year. This season, Mond is getting a good look from the new coach and staff and that could help his stock rise this offseason.

Reports out of Minnesota have expressed that Mond is actually having a decent showing so far. With a new system and group around him, there is still a lot to learn about what the young quarterback has to offer the Vikings.

It’s a bit telling that an unknown commodity in the NFL is better than a veteran option, but at this point, it is worth it to see what Mond has to offer this new-look Minnesota offense instead of playing it super conservative with Mannion.

Mond was a third-round pick of the Vikings in 2021 and needs to be thoroughly evaluated by the staff to determine where he stacks up against other quarterbacks in the league. He may not be ready, but if nothing, he’s worth keeping an eye on this training camp and preseason.
