Position with Vikings:

  • Defensive coordinator (1992-1995)

Super Bowl Team:

  • Indianapolis Colts (2006)

Another member of Dennis Green’s first coaching staff in Minnesota, Tony Dungy spent four seasons with the Vikings before he landed his first job as a head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1996.

With Dungy leading the way for four years, Minnesota’s defense ranked inside the top-15 in points allowed three times, they had a top-six rushing defense three times, and their pass defense ranked among the top-10 twice.

Dungy wound up lasting six seasons with the Bucs, and during his time with the team, he turned a franchise known for losing into one that made the playoffs four times.

Tampa decided to move on from the former Vikings defensive coordinator after the 2001 season, but it worked out wonderfully for him as he landed a better gig as the head coach of the Colts.

Indianapolis ended up winning more than 75 percent of their games with Dungy leading the charge, and in 2006, the former Minnesota coach was able to lead the Colts to a victory in Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears.
