Position with Vikings:

  • Defensive coordinator (2006)

Super Bowl Team:

  • Pittsburgh Steelers (2008)

Mike Tomlin was a one-year wonder during his time with the Vikings. Tomlin joined Minnesota in 2006 as the team’s first defensive coordinator under new head coach Brad Childress.

Under Tomlin, the Vikings finished 14th in points allowed and they had the NFL’s best rushing defense. His efforts in 2006 turned out to be good enough for the Steelers to hire him as their head coach in the 2007 offseason.

Tomlin has been Pittsburgh’s head coach ever since and he’s helped the franchise achieve a bunch of success. During his tenure, the Steelers have won the NFC North seven times, earned 10 appearances in the playoffs, and never finished a regular season with a losing record.

Just as Brian Billick did with the Ravens, Tomlin was able to lead Pittsburgh to a Super Bowl win just two years after his departure from Minnesota. During the 2008 season, the former Vikings defensive coordinator helped Pittsburgh capture their sixth Vince Lombardi trophy in franchise history.
