Positions with Vikings:

  • Assistant head coach (2019-2020)
  • Offensive coordinator (2020)

Super Bowl Team:

  • Denver Broncos (2015)

Unlike the previous four head coaches included on this list, Gary Kubiak was the head coach of a Super Bowl champion prior to joining the Vikings’ coaching staff.

Kubiak was hired by the Broncos in 2015 to be their head coach, and during his first season as the lead guy, he helped Denver defeat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

After the 2016 campaign, Kubiak stepped down as the Broncos head coach due to health issues, and he took a bit of a break from coaching in the NFL.

But he didn’t stay away too long as former Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer convinced Kubiak to come out of retirement and be the team’s assistant head coach in 2019.

Following Kevin Stefanksi’s departure in 2020, Kubiak became the Vikings’ new offensive coordinator. In his one season calling the plays for Minnesota’s offense, the team finished 11th in scoring and fourth in total yards.

Kubiak only managed to last one year as the Vikings offensive coordinator, and following the 2020 campaign, he decided to retire from coaching in the NFL.
