Reason 2: A new offensive philosophy
The offense the last few years has been a bit stale. There is nothing wrong with having an old-school approach to running the ball and controlling the clock to grind out wins, but today’s NFL doesn’t fit with that strategy well anymore.
The strongest part of the Minnesota Vikings’ offense is their passing game. Kirk Cousins is a very good passer and can use weapons like Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen to rack up yardage and touchdowns at a high rate.
Minnesota’s run game isn’t going away though. Dalvin Cook will still get his opportunities to make big plays while keeping the defense honest, but now he could be a bigger part of the passing game as well by getting him the ball in space.
With how the offense was so conservative over the years, it will not only be exciting but it will be refreshing to see how the purple and gold look now that they have an offensive-minded head coach drawing up the plays.
