Top 10 Minnesota Vikings of 2022: Where does Justin Jefferson rank?
No. 1: Justin Jefferson – WR
When you clicked on this article, you probably already knew who would be at the top spot.
After a stellar performance in 2020, I wanted to see if Justin Jefferson could duplicate his rookie season success in 2021. And boy did he ever.
The only wide receiver who Jefferson consistently trailed in many categories after his rookie season was Davante Adams, and 2021 was basically a repeat of that with Cooper Kupp thrown into the mix.
Jefferson now has two seasons under his belt where he ranked in the top five, or close to it, in the following statistics/metrics: yards, yards per reception, PFF grade, yards per route run, and passer rating when targeted, just to name a few.
The Vikings’ top wideout is simply special. You can point to a handful of different reasons why he is already one of the best in the game. His route running, which is harder to quantify than other skills, is among the best as well.
Many Minnesota fans may be biased and include the likes of Eric Kendricks, Harrison Smith, Danielle Hunter, and Jefferson near the top of their rankings at each of their respective positions. Jefferson is the only one, however, that will appear near the top of nearly every national ranking as well.
The Stefon Diggs saga will always leave a sour taste in the mouths of Vikings fans, but it is quite a bit easier to stomach now that it resulted in a superstar in Jefferson. Minnesota should feel fortunate to have a player of his caliber, and a fantastic personality to top it off.
