Top 32 NFL QBs of 2022: Where does Vikings QB Kirk Cousins rank?
By Adam Patrick
No. 16: Matt Ryan (Indianapolis Colts)
Frank Reich is entering his fifth season as the head coach of the Colts, and with Matt Ryan now on the roster, Indianapolis will have their fifth-different Week 1 starting quarterback in the last five years.
As the starting signal-caller for the Atlanta Falcons since 2008, Ryan was able to accomplish pretty much everything imaginable except for winning a Super Bowl. Reich and the Colts are hoping that the former NFL MVP can lead the franchise to their first Super Bowl victory since 2006.
At 37-years-old now, Ryan doesn’t have much time left to add a championship to his resume. But he’s certainly going to have a better shot at hoisting a Vince Lombardi trophy in the air with Indianapolis in 2022 than he would have had if he were still with the Falcons.
No. 15: Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles)
Entering his third season with the Eagles, Jalen Hurts will be looking to prove that he is the franchise’s long-term solution under center.
Hurts’ performance as a passer in 2021 showed that he still has plenty to work on. However, he was able to make a significant impact for Philadelphia last season with his legs as he finished the year with 784 yards on the ground and 10 rushing touchdowns.
With the Eagles trading for wide receiver A.J. Brown this offseason, Hurts could see a nice boost in his passing numbers in 2022. If this happens and his rushing performance is similar to what he did last season, then the young quarterback could emerge as one of the most dangerous signal-callers in the league.
