Ed Ingram or Jesse Davis, guard

Offensively, the starters are mostly set for the Minnesota Vikings but that doesn’t mean there won’t be any new faces among the players who take the field for the first offensive snap of the 2022 NFL season.

The biggest change needed to come at right guard. While it is unknown if it will be rookie Ed Ingram or veteran Jesse Davis who wins the starting spot during training camp and the preseason, there should be an improvement at the position.

Minnesota used a second-round pick on Ed Ingram out of LSU and got themselves a mauler. The 6’3, 307-pound blocker should be able to push defensive players around and stabilize the offensive line as a unit playing next to Brian O’Neill.

If Ingram doesn’t win the job, a sixth-year pro from the Dolphins will be in line for the starting gig. Jesse Davis has started 72 of his 80 games played for Miami and provides a high floor for a position that seemed to have no rock bottom last year.

No matter which of these two players wins the starting right guard job, they have to be better than what the Minnesota Vikings put on the field last season.
