Running backs (5)

  • Starter: Dalvin Cook
  • Backups: Ty Chandler, C.J. Ham, Alexander Mattison, Kene Nwangwu

Much like Kirk Cousins at quarterback, Dalvin Cook has a firm grip on the starting role for the running backs. He will get the bulk of the work as a rusher with some targets in the passing game likely getting sprinkled in.

Alexander Mattison provides a bruising style that will complement the speed and finesse of Cook. He will be used to change the pace of the rushing attack while wearing down the opposition trying to tackle him.

Kene Nwangwu should be plugged directly into kick return duties where he shined when given an opportunity last season. Rookie Ty Chandler offers a similar style of speed and athleticism, making him a candidate to make the team based on special teams ability.

Of course, fullback C.J. Ham to be the primary blocker for Dalvin Cook up front but will also be used in pass protection and can sneak out of the backfield to be an effective receiver if the play calls for it.
