Specialists (3)

  • Jordan Berry, Andrew DePaola, Greg Joseph

First of all, I took a bold take with the kicker position and predicted Greg Joseph would lose his job to rookie Gabe Brkic. One day after that prediction was made, Brkic was sent packing and no competition existed for Joseph. The job should be his for the upcoming year.

Punter and holder Jordan Berry still has some competition in the form of big man Ryan Wright. The 6’3, 245-pound kicker would be fun to root for, but it might be hard for him to beat out Berry, who is somewhat of an average NFL punter.

Long snapper Andrew DePaola also has no competition heading into training camp. Any player signed would likely be a camp body for workouts or other units, meaning he should be the man for the job this season.

Having all three specialists return is great for continuity. Minnesota has been changing up players in this grouping so much over the last few years that nobody could get comfortable in their role, but having them all back for this upcoming season should pay dividends for the purple and gold.
