Bisi Johnson – WR

Through no real fault of his own, Bisi Johnson now finds himself potentially surplus to requirements with the Vikings in 2022. The wide receiver demonstrated some promise over his first two seasons with the team, but injury struck at just the wrong time, and he now has a big fight on his hands in training camp.

The continued excellence of Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson provides the Vikings with a standout wideout tandem. There is also the emergence of K.J. Osborn as a true No. 3 option standing in Johnson’s way in pursuit of meaningful targets.

Johnson quietly emerged as a reliable target in 2020 en route to a 73.7 percent catch success rate. But the NFL waits for no man, and with a new coaching staff coming on board, this represents a stern test of the player’s credentials in training camp.

Whether Johnson is capable of making strides is unclear. He’s been away from the game a long time, which means it might take a few practices for the former seventh-round selection to find his feet.

With the likes of Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Jalen Nailor also fighting for depth chart position, Johnson must leave no doubt before the primary decision-makers finalize their 53-man roster.
