Head coach communicating with quarterback
One of the most shocking developments to come out of the Mike Zimmer era of the Minnesota Vikings was how there wasn’t a clear line of communication between the head coach and the team’s starting quarterback.
That doesn’t seem like it will be an issue with Kevin O’Connell and Kirk Cousins. Chris Tomasson reports that there have already been some one-on-one sessions between the coach and quarterback and that communication is expected to continue.

The team has to be hoping that the open dialogue will lead to more freedom for Kirk Cousins, who hasn’t had many opportunities as a quarterback without being either under the close eye of the head coach or on a short leash when it comes to audibles, time-outs, and more.
Only positive things can come from this dialogue between O’Connell and Cousins. Hopefully, this will result in a more confident and capable version of a quarterback who has already proven himself to be a good decision-maker who can make almost every throw on the field.
