Star pass rusher returns to form

Normally, it wouldn’t be a big deal if an established starter looked good for the Minnesota Vikings in training camp. When that player is Danielle Hunter and they only played seven of the team’s last 33 games, it is kind of a big deal.

A fully-healthy Hunter will be a difference-maker for a Minnesota defense that had to manufacture a lot of pressure over the last two seasons instead of getting it organically through beating the man in front of them.

Will Ragatz of SI stated that Hunter looks like his former self when going up against both the first and second-team defenses of the Vikings. He was apparently “disruptive” by betting into the backfield to get a tackle for a loss and even registered a sack during team drills.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the pairing of Hunter and Za’Darius Smith as the team’s edge rushers but their success will depend entirely on their health as well as their ability to shake off the rust from time away from the game.
