Former Minnesota Vikings co-defensive coordinator Adam Zimmer is now a member of the Cincinnati Bengals staff as an offensive analyst.

During the 2020 offseason, the Minnesota Vikings decided to not renew the contract of longtime defensive coordinator George Edwards. As his replacement, Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer decided to name his son, Adam, and defensive line coach Andre Patterson as the team’s co-defensive coordinators.

It was an interesting decision, especially since Zimmer was basically the defacto defensive coordinator anyways. But apparently, the former Vikings head coach felt his son and Patterson helping run the whole defense was best for the team moving forward.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible decision. With Patterson and the younger Zimmer as Minnesota’s co-defensive coordinators, the team’s defense had arguably their two worst seasons during the Mike Zimmer era.

Following the 2021 campaign, the Vikings decided to move on from Zimmer as their head coach, and the franchise also parted ways with his son and Patterson as the team’s co-defensive coordinators.

Patterson was quickly added to the staff of the New York Giants earlier this year as their new defensive line coach. The elder Zimmer hasn’t said a peep since Minnesota fired him, but his son recently found a new team for the 2022 season.

Earlier this month, it appeared that Adam Zimmer had landed a new gig after he posted an Instagram story that featured him wearing Cincinnati Bengals gear. Well, it has since been revealed that the younger Zimmer is back in the league as an offensive analyst for the Bengals.

You read that right too. He will be working on the offensive side of the ball for Cincinnati. After spending 16 years as a defensive assistant in the NFL, Zimmer will be helping out the offense for the first time in his career.

This will also be the former Vikings co-defensive coordinator’s second stint with the Bengals, as he was their assistant defensive backs coach in 2013 when his father was the team’s defensive coordinator.
