Vikings legend sees big future for a current edge rusher
There is no denying how good Jared Allen was for the Minnesota Vikings. His pass-rush prowess was on display on many occasions while wearing a purple and gold jersey and his legacy will live on forever in the team’s Ring of Honor.
Chris Tomasson shared on Twitter that Allen was asked about his single-season sack record of 22 for the Vikings and he replied that he would love to see current outside linebacker and edge rusher Danielle Hunter surpass that number.

While it’s not impossible for Danielle Hunter to surpass 22 sacks in a season, it would be a big accomplishment for him. The best he has accomplished so far is 14.5 sacks, a mark that he reached in both 2018 and 2019.
I asked Danielle Hunter about Jared Allen saying Hunter told him he’s going to break Allen’s #Vikings record of 22 sacks in a season. “I’m a man of action,’’ Hunter said. “I’m not man of words. I’m a man of action. That’s all I’ve have to say about that.”

If Hunter and Za’Darius Smith can stay healthy for the 2022 NFL season, they would have a good chance to create a lot of chaos on the edges. It has yet to be seen how many quarterbacks he can take to the ground, but the sky could be the limit.
