Which Minnesota Vikings players have stood out during Week 1 of the team’s training camp ahead of the 2022 season?
Now that the bedding-in period has come to an end, the Minnesota Vikings are getting the pads on during their ongoing preparations for the 2022 season in training camp. Intensity should pick up as players look to make an impression on the new regime, who continue to make a positive impact on the overall atmosphere across the organization.
There appears to be a more relaxed outlook while also keeping the primary goal in mind. Many players have already spoken out about this newfound breath of fresh air and how it can benefit the Vikings, which is a stark contrast to how Mike Zimmer approached matters with an old-school mindset.
It’s been fascinating to see things unfolding over the first few days of camp. The opening step in what will hopefully enable Minnesota to hit the ground running when competitive games get underway.
With this in mind, here are four major standouts from Week 1 of Vikings training camp in 2022.
Standout No. 1
Harrison Phillips – DL
Harrison Phillips‘ arrival in free agency went somewhat under the radar this offseason. But the experienced defensive lineman could have a big part to play based on his early efforts in training camp.
The former third-round selection looks the part, acquitting himself well throughout the first week and also integrating into Ed Donatell‘s new system seamlessly. Phillips needs to keep this up when the pads come on, but the early outlook is incredibly promising.
Phillips is expected to line up as a 3-4 defensive end alongside Dalvin Tomlinson. Something that could take his game to new heights after thriving on the Buffalo Bills’ rotation in 2021.
