Win the Super Bowl

This should be the target every season, right?

The Vikings decided to fine-tune rather than completely rebuild under the new regime. This provides them with a chance to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with once again, which would be music to fans’ ears after being the nearly-men for so long.

Kevin O’Connell isn’t shy in his belief that the Vikings can make some noise during his first season in the role. The NFC isn’t expected to be that strong overall – certainly not compared to the AFC – so if Minnesota generates early momentum, then anything is possible.

Nobody needs to be reminded that the Vikings have never lifted a Super Bowl in their long and dramatic history. One could make a strong case for Minnesota being the league’s unluckiest team and this has to change at some point.

It has to.

Whether that’s in 2022 remains to be seen. There are certainly more reasons to be optimistic than pessimistic, but it’s hard to gauge just what the ceiling is given O’Connell’s inexperience as a head coach.

The talent and depth are there and Minnesota is quietly fancied to make the playoffs, at the very least. Either way, fans are likely in for another rollercoaster ride.
