7 biggest takeaways from Week 1 of Vikings training camp

Two safeties isn’t enough
Following the drafting of former Georgia safety Lewis Cine earlier this year, some have been wondering if the Vikings will attempt to use any defensive packages this season that feature Cine and the team’s other top two safeties, Harrison Smith and Camryn Bynum.
Well, Minnesota has already revealed that a three-safety package that has Cine, Smith, and Bynum all on the field at once is something they are at least considering.
The Vikings have been testing out a dime defensive package that includes the three safeties and cornerbacks Patrick Peterson, Cameron Dantzler, and Chandon Sullivan.
It’s just another way for Minnesota to confuse their opponent and hopefully cause them to make mistakes out on the field.
So no matter if Cine or Bynum end up beginning the regular season as the other starting safety next to Smith, it seems like they’re both going to get playing time in the defense each week regardless.
