It is being reported that a former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings is signing with the Dallas Cowboys for the 2022 NFL season.

The Minnesota Vikings ushered in the age of Mike Zimmer in 2014 and the new head coach made sure to enhance their defense with their first-round pick by selecting UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr.

Barr hasn’t taken a snap for a team other than the Vikings since arriving in the NFL, playing in Minnesota for eight seasons where he racked up 495 combined tackles and 17.5 sacks in his 98 games played.

Sadly, the four-time Pro Bowl linebacker won’t be continuing his career with the Minnesota Vikings for the 2022 NFL season as it has been reported that Anthony Barr will be signing a contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

The report comes from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Twitter:

Barr will be a good depth signing for the Cowboys. His speed and athleticism helped him to be in the right place at the right time in a lot of instances. Although he has struggled with injuries throughout his career, Barr is only 30 years old and still has some gas in the tank.

At this time, there are no details to go along with the report other than that it is a one-year deal. It will be interesting to see the monetary value and guaranteed money on the contract considering Barr waited so long in free agency to find a new home.

Barr gave Vikings fans some memorable moments during his time in Minnesota, including memorable sacks and returning a fumble for a touchdown during his rookie year with the purple and gold.

We at The Viking Age would like to thank Anthony Barr for his time with the Minnesota Vikings and wish him luck in his future endeavors with the Dallas Cowboys.
