4 major observations from Kirk Cousins in Vikings training camp so far

Kirk Cousins looks in peak physical condition
There were some concerns about Kirk Cousins skipping an offseason throwing session with his receivers, although spending time with his family before getting down to business is well within his prerogative. However, the quarterback allayed these fears by turning up in prime physical shape for training camp.
This has clearly helped Cousins hit the ground running ahead of a make-or-break season. One that could determine just how long he’s got left as the team’s undisputed No. 1.
The former fourth-round selection signed a one-year extension that expires in 2024, but if the Vikings feel like drafting a top prospect from an exceptional-looking quarterback class next year, they’ll consider it if their current man under center fails to meet certain targets.
Cousins knows the end could be near. This has resulted in the veteran taking a different approach to conditioning and preparing his body throughout the offseason in pursuit of playing on until his late 30s.
"“I take more time to really focus on my body with recovery and using different devices to help my body heal and be energized and ready to go. … I do feel like I spent even more time this year wanting to feel good and taking care of my body.”"
This is another step in the right direction that could help the Vikings when push comes to shove. Cousins has always been reliable from a health standpoint, but if alternative methods coupled with a fresh sense of invigoration under Kevin O’Connell pay off, then expect Minnesota to become a dark horse in no time at all.
