Bisi Johnson – WR

In 2019, Bisi Johnson was the guy who had himself a surprising performance in his first training camp and the preseason for the Vikings, and it resulted in the team keeping their former seventh-round pick on the final roster.

This year, Johnson is on the receiving end of a similar scenario. He is now one of the older members of Minnesota’s wide receiver group and his exit is seeming more likely due to the performance and potential of some of the team’s young pass-catchers.

The top of the Vikings’ wide receiver depth chart is obviously set with Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and K.J. Osborn leading the way. But Minnesota still needs to figure out how many receivers they want to enter the regular season with.

If the Vikings end up keeping six wide receivers after final cuts, then Johnson might have a chance of sticking around. But if Minnesota only keeps five receivers on their final 2022 roster, then the team is likely going to keep guys with more upside like Ihmir Smith-Marsette and rookie Jalen Nailor around over Johnson.

Perhaps things could change if Johnson has a solid preseason this year. But even then, the Vikings are probably going to stick with some of the younger receivers that currently have more potential than the team’s former seventh-round pick.
