Blake Jarwin, free agent

If the Minnesota Vikings are willing to open up their wallets to sign a tight end but don’t want to spend a bigger chunk of money to land Ebron, former Dallas Cowboys weapon Blake Jarwin might be an attractive option.

Jarwin can put up respectable numbers when healthy.. He started 17 of his 42 games with the Cowboys, catching 70 passes for 780 yards and eight touchdowns during his five seasons with Dallas.

There always seemed to be competition and a timeshare for Jarwin in Dallas. He shared time with Jason Witten, Geoff Swaim, and Dalton Schultz over that time, limiting his opportunities. He also missed time in 2021 due to a hip injury but should be ready to go for the upcoming season.

Even if Smith is able to return for the season, signing someone like Blake Jarwin might be a smart move for depth purposes. His experience in producing while sharing time would make him an asset but the idea of possibly getting a good role in the Vikings’ offense would have to be appealing to the free agent.
