The Minnesota Vikings have been linked to Ndamukong Suh this offseason, but they reportedly are nowhere close to signing for the former NFC North rival.

The Minnesota Vikings have added some key players to their defense in their first offseason since the departure of Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman earlier this year. Linebacker Jordan Hicks, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, and edge rusher Za’Darius Smith were all signed this offseason to complement the Vikings’ switch to a 3-4 base defense this year.

Throughout the offseason, a name that Minnesota has also been linked to is former first-round draft pick and former NFC North rival Ndamukong Suh. Suh, a three-time All-Pro defensive tackle, spent last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he has remained unsigned this year.

According to Sportrac, Suh has earned over $166 million in his career, and he has shown his financial literacy throughout his NFL tenure. It’s safe to say the All-Pro defensive tackle doesn’t need the money, but rather, he is finding a spot to continue the success that he’s already had.

Minnesota Vikings and Ndamukong Suh remain far apart in contract talks

KSTP reporter Darren Wolfson recently revealed that the Vikings are still interested in Suh, but it doesn’t sound like they’re about to pay him whatever he wants.

"“They would happily take him today. They’d love to have him on the practice field tomorrow, but at a very specific price point. What Suh is looking for and what the Vikings are looking to do, my understanding is the two sides aren’t remotely close.”"

Minnesota has a price limit for the veteran defender and they are unwilling to go over that to bring him to the Twin Cities. Right now, it’s unclear what price the Vikings are set on and what number Suh feels he’s worth.

While the interest from Minnesota remains, Suh will either have to lower his asking price to sign with the purple and gold or he will just take the Vikings off of the list of teams that he will potentially suit up for during the upcoming 2022 season.
