What potential weak links could hinder the Minnesota Vikings during the upcoming 2022 season?

We are now less than a week away from the Minnesota Vikings taking the field for the first time under new head coach Kevin O’Connell. It’s been a refreshing change of pace in training camp as players get on board with a different set of ideas, but the proof will be in their performance levels during the preseason and when the real action arrives in Week 1.

At least from the outside looking in, the Vikings aren’t that far away from becoming postseason challengers. This is a roster stacked from top to bottom, so if O’Connell can unlock their true potential, then they could become one of the league’s surprise packages when it’s all said and done.

Although the roster does look deeper than last season following a strong period of recruitment, there are a few positional groups that could hold the team back. Something that could prove crucial with such fine margins involved.

With this in mind, here are four potential weak links on the Vikings in 2022.

Safety (opposite Harrison Smith)

There is a high level of intrigue surrounding what Lewis Cine can bring to the Vikings. However, it’s also worth remembering that the first-round pick is a rookie that could go through growing pains.

Playing alongside Harrison Smith will be a huge bonus during Cine’s initial transition. Minnesota could also go with Camryn Bynum if they feel that the Georgia product needs a little extra time before assuming starting responsibilities.

Either way, if this proves to be a weak link early on, it won’t take long for opposing teams to target and exploit it.
