On Tuesday, it was revealed that former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has joined the staff of The33rdTeam.com as a contributing analyst and writer.

When Mike Zimmer was fired by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year after spending the last eight seasons as the team’s head coach, some wondered if he would ever work in the NFL again.

Zimmer is now 66-years-old and his last two seasons with the Vikings likely took a few additional years off of him with how stressful they were.

As the 2022 NFL regular season inches closer to beginning, Zimmer still has not landed a new coaching job from any team in the league. However, it was recently revealed the former Minnesota head coach has joined a different kind of team for the upcoming season.

Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is now a member of the media

On Tuesday, The33rdTeam.com announced that Zimmer is now a member of the site’s staff. According to SKOR North’s Phil Mackey, the former Vikings head coach will be creating video and written content for the site.

Interestingly enough, former Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman, who was fired by the Vikings as well earlier this year, is also a member of The 33rd Team staff. So as much as Zimmer and Spielman would probably like to be away from each other right now, they’re back to being co-workers before the start of the 2022 regular season.

Zimmer and Spielman are among a group of multiple former NFL players, coaches, and executives that make up the staff of The 33rd Team. Some of these staff members include Bill Parcells, Michael Vick, Bill Cowher, Marvin Lewis, Brett Favre, Matt Cassel, Rich Gannon, and former Minnesota running back Robert Smith.

During his time with the Vikings, Zimmer was never really someone who seemed to enjoy talking to the media. So it will certainly be interesting to see what he does with this new role now that he’s the one asking the questions and critiquing all of the decisions being made out on the field.
