Bisi Johnson – WR

Bisi Johnson was a nice surprise as a seventh-round rookie in 2019 with 294 yards and three touchdowns. 20 of his 31 catches resulted in a first down or a touchdown. His role seemed promising heading into 2020 with Justin Jefferson not becoming a starter until the third week of the season.

His sophomore season was not kind to Johnson as he hauled in just 14 passes for 189 yards and failed to reach the end zone. He then missed the 2021 season with an injury and watched K.J. Osborn outshine his production.

Ihmir Smith-Marsette joined the room last season and made some splash plays as a rookie and has earned a chance to stick around for another season. When it comes down to the wide receiver room, there are probably only two spots up for grabs.

Between Johnson, Dan Chisena, Trishton Jackson, and Jalen Nailor, competition will run deep in camp. Trishton Jackson, who I think has a good chance to make this roster, has recently worked with the second-team in camp.

There were plenty of reasons to be excited about Johnson, and there is a chance he can still be a contributor on an NFL roster, but he hasn’t done much since 2019. He has to turn heads in live action during the preseason if he wants any shot of making the team.
