Running back depth is DEEP

Dalvin Cook sat this game out but there were still plenty of reasons to be excited about the team’s ground game on Sunday. Sadly, Alexander Mattison was the least of those reasons since he only had three carries and gained eight yards from those.

The real reason to be excited is the combination of Ty Chandler and Kene Nwangwu. That running back duo showed a great ability to follow their blockers and make good decisions to hit the hole with explosive speed.

Chandler led the way by gaining 50 yards on five carries. Nwangwu wasn’t far behind with 41 yards on seven rushing attempts and added two catches for 18 yards. Having this duo combine for 109 of the team’s 298 total offensive yards is impressive.

If this duo can keep proving their worth, they will force the Minnesota Vikings to keep four running backs and a fullback on the team’s 53-man roster this season. Of course, unless the team decides to do something else with Mattison…
