Vikings 53-man roster prediction after Week 1 of the 2022 preseason
By Adam Patrick
Following their first exhibition game of the 2022 preseason, which Minnesota Vikings players will end up on the team’s final 53-man roster?
One exhibition game is in the books for the Minnesota Vikings this year, and for many fans, this past Sunday was the first time seeing the Vikings running their new offensive and defensive schemes.
Of the guys Minnesota let out on the field, some were pleasant surprises, while others didn’t provide much of anything to be excited about.
The Vikings now have two preseason games left this summer. These two exhibition matchups will likely play vital roles in Minnesota figuring out which players are going to stick around for the regular season.
But instead of waiting for the Vikings to play two more preseason games, let’s just predict the team’s final 2022 roster now, starting with the quarterbacks.
Quarterbacks (3)
IN
- Kirk Cousins
- Kellen Mond
- TBD
OUT
- Sean Mannion
Kellen Mond deserves to remain on Minnesota’s roster this season. Mond had enough flashes out on the field last weekend to be given another year to develop with the Vikings.
With how unreliable Sean Mannion is out on the field, Minnesota will likely add another quarterback to their roster before their regular-season opener against the Green Bay Packers. There could be some intriguing names on the waiver wire after teams make their final cuts in a few weeks including Taylor Heinicke, Mason Rudolph, and Nick Mullens.
