Minnesota kept 27 players out

Yes, it is the preseason, and the games don’t count, but it can still be frustrating for fans to see Minnesota lose a game. The offensive football fans had to sit through was especially tough to watch and was a major reason why the Vikings lost another football game in August.

Minnesota passer Kellen Mond had some very rough moments, and there were also plenty of receivers who did the quarterbacks no favors by dropping passes that killed drives and ended scoring chances.

While the offense was brutal to watch, the silver lining is that Vikings fans only have to suffer through it maybe one more time as the team had 27 players out on Saturday.

Minnesota had live practices against the 49ers during the week leading up to their preseason matchup, and head coach Kevin O’Connell saw enough from his starters and even some backups, that he gave them the night off, leading to the mass exodus of meaningful members of the purple.

So the inept Vikings offense we saw on Saturday was led by second and third stringers and not the guys we will be seeing on Sundays. Minnesota had even fewer starters going than we saw in their first preseason game against the Raiders and that inexperience was evident.

Yes, the matchup against San Francisco was tough to watch, but the thing to remember is that the Vikings will be much more explosive on both sides of the ball when the front liners take the field.
