Running Backs (5)

  • Ty Chandler
  • C.J. Ham (FB)

OUT

Initially, it felt like the Vikings weren’t going to have much of a role for C.J. Ham in their offense this year. This could still be the case, but Minnesota resting Ham for Saturday’s game seems like a pretty big indication that he’s going to be a part of the team’s final roster.

Rookie Ty Chandler didn’t have quite the performance against the 49ers that he had during the Vikings’ preseason opener, as he only rushed for 19 yards on five carries. But he also displayed a bit of underrated power when he punched one of his rushing attempts into the end zone for a score in the loss to San Francisco.

Wide Receivers (6)

IN

  • Justin Jefferson
  • Adam Thielen
  • K.J. Osborn
  • Ihmir Smith-Marsette
  • Jalen Nailor
  • Trishton Jackson

OUT

  • Bisi Johnson
  • Myron Mitchell
  • Dan Chisena
  • Albert Wilson

An argument can be made to keep Bisi Johnson around because some might view him as more reliable than a young receiver like Trishton Jackson or rookie Jalen Nailor. But when it comes to the fifth or sixth spot on the wide receiver depth chart, reliability isn’t as large of a factor when determining who to keep.

Jackson didn’t do a whole lot against the 49ers on Saturday (just one catch for 17 yards). But he also didn’t do much to hurt his chances of making Minnesota’s final roster either.
