Safeties (4)

IN

  • Harrison Smith
  • Lewis Cine
  • Camryn Bynum
  • Josh Metellus

With the Vikings keeping Camryn Bynum out of action on Saturday against the 49ers, it’s pretty clear that he’s going to be the team’s other starting safety with Harrison Smith for the regular-season opener.

Against San Francisco, Josh Metellus also tightened his grip on the final safety spot with three tackles, one pass breakup, and no catches allowed while in pass coverage.

OUT

  • Myles Dorn
  • Mike Brown

Specialists (3)

IN

  • Greg Joseph (K)
  • Jordan Berry (P)
  • Andrew DePaola (LS)

OUT

  • Ryan Wright (P)

Ryan Wright had a solid performance against the 49ers on Saturday with an average of 47.5 yards per punt on four attempts. But his competition, Jordan Berry, also performed well against San Francisco as only one of his three punts ended up getting returned.

Berry is viewed as the better holder for Greg Joseph on field goal and extra-point attempts. With the kicking game being so dependent on continuity, this will likely give Berry the edge over Wright in the end.
