Kickers and the Minnesota Vikings have gone together in recent years like toothpaste and orange juice. They always seem to be an issue for the team, and Joseph a season ago was more of the same.

Early in the year, he missed kicks that cost the team a win in Arizona, and also almost led to a loss by the lowly Detroit Lions. He did get better as the season wore on but the team still brought in competition for him in camp in undrafted kicker Gabe Brkic.  That apparently lit a fire under his ass as Joseph has risen to the occasion and had one of the best preseason a Vikings kicker has had in recent memory.

Joseph has been on fire the entire preseason. He was routinely ending practices by being perfect on kicks, ending with 60+ yard bombs hitting them with plenty of room to spare.

If Joseph can keep this up throughout the season the Vikings will have a dangerous weapon on their hands. They did just take away his favorite holder in Jordan Berry, but hopefully, Ryan Wright soon figures out Joseph’s ball angle preferences.

The guy has been in the zone all summer, and the team should feel very confident every time he trots out to kick one this year, which is an odd thing to say about a kicker who wears purple and gold.
