T.Y McGill, defensive line

The Minnesota Vikings transitioning to a three-man defensive front is an interesting move. In order for that front to succeed, having the right personnel for starters as well as backups is of paramount importance.

Looking at T.Y. McGill’s resume is eye-opening. He is the definition of a journeyman player since he’s on his tenth team (with multiple stints on some of those) since being an undrafted free agent in 2015.

McGill’s play in the preseason has made him look like a player who has continued to hone his craft and work hard to earn a role. Through the first two weeks of the preseason, he has racked up 3.5 sacks and consistently won the battle in the trenches.

Although he won’t be in line for a starting gig this year, T.Y. McGill would offer some veteran experience as a backup where he would be able to continue to prove that he belongs on an NFL roster this season.
