C.J. Ham, fullback

Normally, keeping C.J. Ham on the 53-man roster of the Minnesota Vikings would be a no-brainer. Having a lead blocker for Dalvin Cook would not only help the offensive line create holes but be a sneaky option to catch passes out of the backfield.

A new offensive system raises questions about the need for a fullback at all. If the decision is made not to use a lead blocker, that could signal the end of Ham’s time with the team no matter how well he performs his job.

Ham has more to offer the team than just blocking. The Vikings lack depth at tight end and the Vikings could slide him over to the line to continue being a blocking specialist who could catch a pass or two.

It will be interesting to see what direction the team goes on fullbacks, but the past success he has achieved at the position could translate well to tight end or he could be an emergency short-yardage back if needed. Time will tell.
