Final Vikings 53-man roster prediction before the 2022 regular season
By Adam Patrick
Tight Ends (3)
IN
- Irv Smith Jr.
- Johnny Mundt
- Ben Ellefson
OUT
- Zach Davidson
- Nick Muse
- Sean Beyer
Zach Davidson did everything he could in Denver this past Saturday to prove that he deserves a spot on the Vikings’ final roster this season. But Davidson’s four catches for 47 yards against the Broncos might be too little, too late.
It wouldn’t be a complete surprise if he made Minnesota’s final 53 this year. But it seems more likely that the Vikings would sign a recently released veteran tight end before the start of the regular season if they have concerns about their tight end depth.
Offensive Linemen (9)
IN
- Christian Darrisaw (LT)
- Ezra Cleveland (LG)
- Garrett Bradbury (C)
- Ed Ingram (RG)
- Brian O’Neill (RT)
- Blake Brandel (OT)
- Chris Reed (OG)
- Austin Schlottmann (C)
- Oli Udoh (OT)
OUT
- Jesse Davis (T/G)
- Josh Sokol (C)
- Kyle Hinton (OG)
- Vederian Lowe (OT)
- Timon Parris (OT)
- Wyatt Davis (OG)
Even though he has plenty of experience in the NFL, Minnesota’s signing of Jesse Davis earlier this year was always a questionable decision. Davis was one of the worst offensive tackles in the league last season, and it seemed odd that the Vikings were hoping he could potentially be their solution at right guard.
Well, it turns out, he’s not going to be Minnesota’s starting right guard this season. Instead, that job is expected to go to rookie Ed Ingram. Will that leave Davis on the outside when the Vikings put together their final 53-man roster this week? We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s definitely something Minnesota will be considering.
