Final Vikings 53-man roster prediction before the 2022 regular season
By Adam Patrick
Inside Linebackers (4)
IN
- Eric Kendricks
- Jordan Hicks
- Brian Asamoah
- Troy Dye
OUT
- Blake Lynch
- Chazz Surratt
- William Kwenkeu
Troy Dye and rookie Brian Asamoah ended up getting a lot of playing time this summer in Minnesota’s three preseason games since Jordan Hicks only appeared in the first one and Eric Kendricks was kept on the sideline for all of the exhibition matchups.
Both Dye and Asamoah should be immediate contributors on special teams this season, and it wouldn’t be shocking if the Vikings created some plays for the rookie to get on the field for a few defensive snaps each week.
Cornerbacks (6)
IN
- Patrick Peterson
- Cameron Dantzler
- Chandon Sullivan
- Andrew Booth Jr.
- Akayleb Evans
- Kris Boyd
OUT
- Tye Smith
- Parry Nickerson
- Nate Hairston
Kris Boyd has been easy to pick on during the last few years thanks to some underwhelming performances and several boneheaded decisions he’s made.
But Boyd made the most of his opportunities this summer and he deserves a spot on Minnesota’s final roster. The recent injury to Andrew Booth Jr. helps Boyd’s chances to make the team, but so does having the third-best defensive grade from PFF among all Vikings players this preseason.
