Bisi Johnson’s bad luck

After missing the 2021 season due to injury, Bisi Johnson had his work cut out staking a claim with the Vikings this offseason. However, the wide receiver rose to the challenge, making every rep count and also emerging as a valuable contributor on special teams for good measure.

Then, disaster struck again.

Johnson went down with a serious ACL injury that will force him to miss a second-straight campaign. A devastating blow for the former seventh-round pick, who looked set to make the team based on comments made by head coach Kevin O’Connell.

The Vikings traded for Jalen Reagor from the Philadelphia Eagles, who could be their No. 4 receiving option behind Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and K.J. Osborn. As for Johnson, he’ll rehabilitate in the coming months before hopefully getting another shot.

In terms of Minnesota’s overall aspirations next season, it might not mean that much. But Johnson’s latest problem in the final year of his deal represents a bitter disappointment for the player at just the wrong time.

Whether we’ll see Johnson in a Vikings uniform again remains to be seen. Another stroke of bad luck for a wideout that looked the part on occasions as a rookie.
