With the Packers coming off of a 13-win season for the third year in a row, the Vikings have a tough task in front of them in their first meaningful game with Kevin O’Connell as their head coach.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers prediction Week 1

Playing inside U.S. Bank Stadium has become a valuable home-field advantage for the Vikings since the building opened back in 2016. This advantage has definitely been useful for Minnesota in their home matchups against the Packers.

With fans in attendance (empty stands in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions), the Vikings are 4-1 against Green Bay inside U.S. Bank Stadium since 2016. The Packers’ only road win over Minnesota inside U.S. Bank Stadium when fans have been in the stands took place in 2019 when Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was unable to play due to an injury.

Given that these two are divisional foes, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that three of Minnesota’s four home wins over Green Bay since 2016 have been by seven points or less. With both teams being pretty healthy heading into Sunday’s showdown, we should expect the results of this contest to be pretty close as well.
