Cam Bynum – S

Cam Bynum entered this season with a lot of excitement around him. He made some big plays with limited opportunities his rookie season and earned a starting job over the Vikings’ first-round pick Lewis Cine. He had a solid first game against the Packers, but his performance against the Eagles wasn’t very good.

Bynum was a major liability in coverage and was on the wrong end of huge plays to Quez Watkins, Dallas Goedert, and DeVonta Smith. It was unclear if these were communication issues or if Bynum was just plain beaten, but the result was an eyesore for any Minnesota fan who watched this game unfold.

Bynum has proven to be a solid hitter in his career, so watching him struggle to bring down Philadelphia ball carriers was a bit of a surprise.

This was a problem for the entire Vikings’ defense, but there were times when Bynum opted to rip the ball out before the tackle was made that allowed the Eagles to gain extra yardage and even find the end zone.

Bynum did see his snaps decrease in the second half and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Cine get the start next week. Bynum is still a guy with a lot of upside, but his performance against Philadelphia was very disheartening.
