Following a letdown in Week 2, the Minnesota Vikings will attempt to get things back on track against the Detroit Lions in Week 3.

Well, Week 2 didn’t turn out that well for the Minnesota Vikings in their Monday-night matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Vikings were handed a 17-point loss by the Eagles this past Monday in a game that was never really competitive.

Considering how well they performed in the regular-season opener against the Green Bay Packers, it was a bit shocking that Minnesota didn’t at least put up a fight in Philadelphia.

But sometimes things just don’t go according to plan and this was certainly the case for the Vikings in Week 2. On Sunday, Minnesota will try to see if they can put together a better performance when they host the Detroit Lions inside U.S. Bank Stadium.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions prediction Week 3

Oddsmakers don’t seem to care considering the spread, but the 2022 Lions are not the same team that the Vikings have been able to walk all over during the last few seasons.

Detroit is currently 1-1 and their one loss was a three-point defeat in Week 1 to the same Eagles team that just trampled Minnesota. Even though the spread has the Vikings currently favored by 5.5 points, expect this weekend’s matchup with the Lions to be a closely contested divisional battle.

At the same time, things typically seem to go Minnesota’s way whenever Detroit comes to town each season. The Vikings have won their last four contests against the Lions inside U.S. Bank Stadium and the victories have been by an average margin of 11 points.

Despite Detroit appearing to be heading in the right direction now, we should still expect Minnesota’s success at home against the Lions to continue this week.

    Prediction: Vikings win
