Irv Smith Jr. – TE

It feels like we’ve been waiting during Irv Smith Jr.‘s entire career for him to break out. After missing all of 2021 due to a knee injury, Smith is back on the field this season, and his performance has been nothing really to rave about.

He hauled in a touchdown pass against the Eagles in Week 2, but he also had a gigantic drop in that matchup that could’ve had a major impact on the result. Then last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, Smith dropped another pass that he should have easily caught.

His contract expires after this season, and he’s probably not someone that the Vikings are going to beg to return in 2023. So why not see what a team might give up for him in a trade?

Smith is still young enough (24) that another team could convince themselves that they could be the one to get the most out of the Minnesota tight end. Could the Vikings look to move on from Smith before this year’s trade deadline if they get the right offer?
