Minnesota’s offensive line takes a step back

During the Vikings’ first three games of the 2022 season, the performance of the team’s offensive line looked like it was heading in the right direction. They didn’t play like one of the best offensive lines in the league, but the Vikings’ group of blockers were definitely showing some significant improvements compared to last year.

Well, on Sunday, Minnesota’s offensive line looked more like the groups that were put together during the Mike Zimmer era.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins constantly had pressure in his face and he wound up getting sacked by the Saints three times. Specifically, Minnesota’s Pro Bowl right tackle, Brian O’Neill, had an uncharacteristically bad performance on Sunday.

As encouraging as the first three weeks were for the Vikings’ offensive line, their struggles against New Orleans proved that the unit still has a long way to go before they can even be regarded as average.
