3 unsung heroes from the Vikings win over the Saints in week 4
By Clay Vasquez
Dalvin Tomlinson – DL
The previously mentioned big man in the trenches has found himself on this list again. While there are some players who are taking a bit to catch up with this new Vikings defensive scheme, Dalvin Tomlinson has not only got it down, but he has excelled to start the season. Though he doesn’t get the recognition around the league like some other big names, Tomlinson is quietly having himself a Pro Bowl-level season, and that continued against New Orleans.
Tomlinson had himself a day against the Saints in London, putting up a line of three pressures, four tackles, one sack, and 1 forced fumble. All of this added up to Tomlinson being the highest-graded player for the Vikings on defense per PFF.
The position that Dalvin is playing isn’t sexy, it doesn’t get the shine like Danielle Hunter and Za’Darius Smith do on the outside, but it’s still a crucial position that Tomlinson is playing at an elite level.
The Vikings corner the market in players named “Dalvin” in the NFL, and while the star running back is off to a slow start, it’s the big man on defense who is playing like the best Dalvin on the team.
It’s a contract year for Tomlinson, and he is certainly playing himself into a big payday. While we don’t know what the future holds for him, right now he is a Minnesota Viking, and a very good one at that.
