Cam Dantzler – CB

Cam Dantzler, like Bisi Johnson, has had a promising arrival with the Vikings. Heading into his third season with the team, Dantzler has had the benefit of health.

However, his inconsistency has shown this year, and the ups and downs might not be worth the time for the Vikings. With rookie corner Andrew Booth Jr. set to return from injury soon, Dantzler could be expendable.

Trading Dantzler to another team versus outright cutting him could be in Minnesota’s best interest. With Patrick Peterson still playing at a high level at 32-years-old, another one-year contract for the veteran with added attention on Booth and free agents and draft picks to complement the corner could spell trouble for his tenure.

Kris Boyd remains a more viable in-house option for the team, and his contract expires after this season, which could put the team in a position to pick one or another when choosing who to commit to beyond Booth.

Conversely, with rookie safety Lewis Cine out for the foreseeable future and beyond, the team could look to have as young of a secondary as possible, both on the front-end and back-end. But either way, Dantzler’s chances of remaining a Viking in 2023 seem pretty slim.
