7 biggest takeaways from the Vikings win over the Bears in Week 5

O’Connell’s playbook is expanding
Every week this season, we’ve seen Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell add a few new wrinkles to his offense’s playbook, and Sunday against the Bears was no different.
In their win over Chicago, we saw Minnesota’s offense run a play that had Justin Jefferson throwing the ball to Dalvin Cook, we saw a flea-flicker screen pass to tight end Johnny Mundt called, and we saw the Vikings utilize a quick pitch to a motioning Jalen Reagor to score an easy touchdown.
Minnesota is going to use some of the same basic concepts on offense each week. But O’Connell has already shown that he’s going to have a few tricks up his sleeve for every game.
The Vikings have a lot of talented playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and O’Connell is finding newer, creative ways to get the football in their hands more often. The best part about all of this is the likelihood that we’ve only seen a sliver of what Minnesota’s offensive playbook has to offer this season.
