Jefferson will post his third 150-yard game of the season
The Vikings’ offense has been inconsistent so far, but the one constant has been Justin Jefferson. Slated for “The Cooper Kupp Role,” Jefferson has lived up to the hype, collecting 40 catches for 547 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Last week against the Chicago Bears, Jefferson lit up the Chicago secondary for 12 catches and 154 yards with most of his damage coming in the first half. It was also not a coincidence that Cousins started the game 18-for-18 with nine of his completions going to Jefferson.
Cousins needs to find a way to get his secondary receivers involved, but for now, he only has eyes for No. 18. The Dolphins’ secondary comes into this game banged up as Xavier Howard comes in on the back end of a groin injury.
Although the former Pro Bowler is expected to suit up on Sunday, the Dolphins play a style of defense that allows completions underneath. With Miami ranking second with 7.5 yards per attempt, that should allow Jefferson to continue to be the centerpiece of the Vikings’ offense.
